What this is
A guide to visiting and understanding one archaeological site.
Not a listicle farm, not a booking funnel with articles attached. The test we apply to every page is whether somebody standing at the gate with a phone in their hand would be glad they read it.
Who writes it
The guiding team at Caicos Travel, a licensed Turkish travel agency (TÜRSAB 18671) working on the Aegean coast, whose main business is taking visitors through Ephesus and the sites around it.
That is a commercial interest and we are not going to pretend otherwise. It is also the reason the practical detail here is any good. The fact that the Upper Gate ticket office closes an hour before the Lower Gate one is not in a guidebook; it is something you learn by being sent round the hill with a family who arrived at six.
What we do about the conflict
Three rules, and they are the reason to trust the rest of the site.
Nothing is sold here. No booking, no basket, no prices for anything we provide. Every commercial link leaves this domain and is labelled as leaving.
One link, at the foot, written as a sentence. No page carries more than one, none of them interrupt the article, and none of them are banners. Which pages have one at all is decided page by page rather than by a rule: somebody reading about the Terrace Houses may well want them explained, and somebody working out a cruise day may want the clock handled for them. Most pages have none at all.
We publish the case against ourselves. The guided or self-guided page starts with the argument for not hiring a guide, because for a lot of visitors that is the right answer.
What we get wrong
Prices and hours change without notice, sometimes mid-season. Every page carries the date it was last checked against the source, and where two credible sources disagree we say so rather than picking the tidier one.
