Most of what is wrong on the internet about Ephesus is wrong because somebody copied a blog post from 2019. Prices in particular have moved a long way in a short time.
Where the numbers come from
Hours and prices: the visiting-hours table and the entrance-fee tariff published by the İzmir Provincial Directorate of Culture and Tourism, and the Ministry's own page for Efes Örenyeri. These are the documents the ticket offices actually work from.
Anything historical: excavation publications and the Austrian Archaeological Institute, which has worked at Ephesus since 1895, in preference to general reference works.
Anything about the walk itself — how long a stretch takes, where the shade is, when the door queues — comes from doing it, repeatedly. Those are stated as estimates, because that is what they are.
When sources disagree
They do, more often than you would like. The ministry's national site page and the provincial table have carried different closing times for the same gate in the same season.
Where that happens we say which sources disagree and give the advice that is safe under either reading — usually "be at a ticket office by half past five" rather than a false precision.
Dates
Every page carries the date it was last checked. If that date is more than a couple of months old and you are reading about a price, treat the price as indicative and check at the gate.
